PROJECT 1: PET & HOME
Issued 28Dec09. Due 08Jan10.
Individual Project Title: JAPANESE TETRA AQUARIUM
PET & HOME IS OUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT FOR SEMESTER 2 IN ARCHITECTURE. HOME IS A SHELTER FOR ALL LIVING CREATURES. DIFFERENT CREATURES HAVE DIFFERENT REQUIREMENT FOR THEIR SHELTR. IN THIS PROJCT, I HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE A HOME FOR A PAIR OF GUPPY FISH.
THE AQUARIUM USED IS ROUND IN SHAPE, AND THE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE USED TO HOLD THE AQAURIUM IS MADE UP OF BAMBOO.
BAMBOO, ONE OF THE PLANT USED IN JAPANESE CULTURE IS USED TO BUILT THE AQUARIUM PLATFORM TO SUPPORT THE AQUARIUM. IT IS MADE SQUARE IN SHAPE IN CONTRAS WITH THE ROUND AQUARIUM. THIS IDEA WAS ALSO INSPIRED BY THE SQUARE JAPANESE TEA SET USED IN THE JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY. THE BASE OF THIS BAMBOO PLATFORM IS MADE UP OF WOOD ARRANGED AND NAILED TOGETHER IN PARALLEL.
FRONT ELEVATION
JAPANESE GARDEN OFTEN CONTAINS THE ELEMENTS OF WATER, ROCKS OR STONE ARRANGEMENTS AND PLANTATIONS. I HAVE ALSO INCLUDED THESE ELEMENTS IN MY DESIGN. CRUNCHED STONES, PEBBLES AND WATER LNTILE ARE USED FOR DECORATION.
PLAN ELEVATION
MY DESIGN CONCEPT IS BASED ON THE JAPANESE STYLE GARDEN WHICH ITS TRANQUIL SANCTUARIES ALLOW INDIVIDUALS TO ESCAPE FROM TH STRESSES OF DAILY LIFE. MY PET HOME IS DESIGNED FOR THIS PURPOSE TO ALLOW US TO RELAX WHILE WATCHING THE FISHES SWIM IN THE AQUARIUM. THIS PET HOME IS DESIGND INTENDED TO KEEP THE FISHES AS FOR RECREATION.
